How the names work
- Letters name the region: Fp prefrontal, F frontal, C central, T temporal, P parietal, O occipital, A ear (auricular).
- Odd numbers are on the left, even on the right; numbers grow away from the midline.
- z means the midline: Fz, Cz, Pz, Oz.
- 10-20: neighbouring electrodes sit 10% or 20% of the skull's front-back or left-right distance apart.
- The 10-10 system renamed four sites: T3→T7, T4→T8, T5→P7, T6→P8. Both spellings are in use.
